This is why I HATE PRO SPORTS!

Surprise, surprise, the poor little Target Center can't pay it's bills.

Can I get some shocked looks? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

So apparently we (Minneapolitans) bought the damn thing in 1995 for $84.6M, we spend about $6.5M annually to keep bright and tackylicious, and now we gotta subsidize this blinking behemoth for its $1.2M in LOSSES.

Losses?

LOSSES!

But I love this statement:

Timberwolves CEO Rob Moor, who is Taylor's representative to the city, said the council's action "shows a lot of commitment on the part of the city and how important Target Center is to downtown."

Ummmm... no. Minneapolis owns the damn thing, that's why they voted to pay this crap.

Oh, wait! This line is even better:

Under the deal endorsed by the Minneapolis City Council's Ways & Means/Budget Committee, the city will be more involved in arena operations.

Great. We all know what kind of saavy businesspeople end up in local government... I'm sure the Target Center will be profitable in no time under the hawk-eyed managment of our CMs.

Yep. Uh-huh.
